Youth Mental Health First Aid: Why It MattersJust as we would act quickly if someone were having a heart attack—by performing CPR or calling 9-1-1—it’s equally important to know how to support young people facing mental health challenges. Whether it’s a panic attack, anxiety, or signs of substance use, understanding how to respond can make a big difference.
Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is designed to remove the fear and uncertainty from discussing mental health with young people. It provides a clear action plan to help you identify and address potential issues, offering support in a way that is safe and effective.
When more people are equipped with the tools to have these important conversations, young people get the help they need sooner. YMHFA trainees become key connectors between youth in need and the right support services.
Training Topics:
What You’ll Learn: YMHFA focuses on the concepts of recovery and resilience, reinforcing that young people can and do improve with the right support and their own strengths.
